Launch your Smartsheet assets automatically from an approved request.

We listen, we develop, we release.  Our clients frequently ask us if we can help them to initiate new projects or work requests AUTOMAGICALLY using a range of their template sets.

Smarter Launch Pad app is designed to assist that process avoiding the need for manual set up, which risks data inconsistency and just takes too long. Details of the request data populates the new assets and updates your existing dashboards, making the whole process more efficient, and avoiding duplication. 

How Does It Work?

Simply start with a grid (tracker) sheet, receive & approve the work request and the Smarter Launch Pad will create a set of new Smartsheet assets, based on your pre-defined templates, with links from the request being shown in the newly created assets and metrics flowing back to the tracker sheet to provide data for dashboard updates.

What can I use this for? 

Any process that needs to consistently track an individual project or activity through a checklist of tasks. For example:

  • A Project Request that creates a Project Plan, Dashboard and rolls up to a Portfolio Dashboard
  • A Work Order Request that needs a Work Order Task List to track the order through to delivery
  • A Job sheet whereby once a job has been approved, a checklist for that job is automatically created and reported on in dashboards at job and portfolio level.

Is this the same as Smartsheet’s Control Center?

 No.  Our Smarter Launch Pad is an app that will create new sheets based off a template automatically from a grid sheet.  This is where the comparison ends.  Smartsheet’s Control Center provides more control over the assets that are created, it has Global Updates, Archiving capabilities and more.

Then where does this app sit?

Smarter Launch Pad is great for clients that are looking to prove that Smartsheet’s Control Center is the way to go but don’t have the evidence or buy-in yet from Management to approve the spend.  

We recommend using Smarter Launch Pad as a steppingstone to prove the concept & methodology works, at a lower level of cost and then move onto Control Center when the business is ready.   The move from Smarter Launch Pad to Smartsheet’s Control Center will be smooth and painless as the design of the “blueprints” and methodology will have already been considered, tested, and can be evolved when ready.

SMG Construction supply high quality, custom built homes and renovations to luxury residencies in the Bahamas.

The Challenge

SMG store a wide range of construction and manufacturing items and materials on site, both for general use and allocation to client projects. With stock frequently coming in and out, stock levels need to be tracked and monitored in real time by employees.

SMG needed to manage their inventory list with a system that could book products in and out, and provide management with a concise, accurate view of stock levels.

In particular, they needed a way to track how many items were in general stock and how many were assigned to each project.

Our Solution

SBP used AppSheet’s QR Code function to set up an Inventory Management app.

Our unique customised solution monitors the client’s stock to suit their exact requirements. Employees can now allocate items into a customer stock area to give a clear sense of what belongs to who.

By simply scanning the QR code, an employee can keep track of existing stock levels and allocate stock to client jobs.

As our system is built in AppSheet, it can also link to Smartsheet to provide data storage. AppSheet records the movement of stock in and out at the front end, while Smartsheet stores that information at the back end.

This means it can update stock once it’s been booked out, and automatically send that data to a report, giving senior management a real time overview of the stock situation any time they need it.

The client has also taken advantage of Smartsheet’s own reporting tools, using the data for their own Reports and Dashboards.

Cidel is a Canadian private bank and asset manager which helps high net worth individuals and institutions protect and grow their wealth.

The Challenge

As a private finance company, compliance requirements at Cidel are very stringent. Risk and compliance measures are closely tracked and reviewed annually. 

In order to manage these efficiently, individual employees are assigned ownership of particular risks. It is their responsibility to track these, to make sure each risk has been reviewed and rated and complies to the relevant regulations.  

The challenge was to manage how these risks are assigned, and make sure each employee has access to the relevant regulations pertaining to that risk. With hundreds of risks and regulations to keep track of, Cidel needed a transparent, robust system to ensure the correct risk is assigned to the correct employee with all the relevant information available to them. 

In addition to this, each risk owner needed to be able to delegate their assigned risk. The system needed to let them grant risk assessment permissions to other employees when required.

Our solution 

We created a bespoke system from the ground up. We adapted out Smarter Dashboard Solution to create a website that enables any Cidel user to log in via Smartsheet and view any risks assigned to them. They can then examine all the information that’s relevant to that risk, assign the level of risk, and even specify what controls are in place to mitigate against it. 

The product has the capability to handle hundreds of employee logins, either as the risk owner or if the risk has been delegated to them. As a cloud based system it has the advantage of allowing the team access whenever they need it, and the efficiency of information updating in real time. 

We worked closely with the client and adapted the solution to fit their requirements as part of an ongoing development process.

The dust has settled from our time in Seattle, we’ve unpacked, had a cuppa and taken some time to reflect on Engage 2022. Here’s a round-up of our biggest highlights and takeaways:

CEO Mark Mader shared some inspiring customer stories in his opening keynote speech, and chatted with representatives from McLaren, TIME and Convergint about how Smartsheet is transforming their businesses. The message was simple: Product innovation allows teams to work together and adapt quickly to the ever-changing work environment.

​We were truly inspired by the panel of overachievers from LumenonicsKPMG USClimate Pledge Arena and Cisco, ably hosted by CMO Andrew Bennett. They covered the importance on onboarding, and demoing new solutions to your team. The advice to new Smartsheet users was clear: back up as much as possible, trust the experts and build great dashboards.

Our team of Etienne Mermillod, Richard and Gwen Rymill attended seminars and demos on an exciting range of Smartsheet products, including:

  • Data Table. Allows users to collaborate on large data sets by pulling together content from ERPs, CRMs and other data sources. Store millions of rows, combine data from multiple sources and automate your data uploads.
  • Bridge. Are you relying on multiple business processes and people for your data and workflows? Bridge is a no code solution that allows users to build cross platform workflows, connect data and automate routine tasks.
  • Mobile Offline Forms. Allows users access to Smartsheet Forms even when they don’t have internet access. We’re particularly excited at how this will benefit our clients working on site. 
  • Smartsheet Desktop App. Work in Smartsheet without the distraction of a browser. It works exactly the same as browser-based Smartsheet, but sits in a self contained programme on your desktop.  
  • Updated User Interface. Smartsheet will soon be announcing changes to the look and feel of the main grid. Watch this space for updates!
  • Core Smartsheet Function will soon include Card View in Reports and Work Insight information. A particularly welcome update to reporting has also been announced; If a column name changes in a sheet, it will no longer vanish from the report!

According a recent article in Forbes Magazine, immersive, digital reality is the future. The team at Facebook / Meta are so convinced of this that they are investing heavily in VR and AR technology, which could one day lead to us all wearing augmented headsets or Google Glasses. In theory, these could even replace the handset in our day to day lives. The possibilities are truly exciting; imagine sitting in a meeting talking virtually to your colleagues as if you are all in the same room. Virtual reality shopping, socialising, even travel and tourism, all of this could one day be possible from the comfort of your own home.

But just how far off is this future? And what does it mean for our clients?

Smartsheet and Oculus have already created a solution that enables users to collaborate in a holistic, VR work environment. The rise in the popularity of QR Codes and games such as Pokemon Go are just two examples of the enormous appeal of interactive tech. Are Smart Glasses simply taking this to the next level?

Thanks to our innovative solutions that combine Smartsheet with AppSheet, our clients are using this for stock taking, scanning packages and time keeping, to name a few. It’s a wrap! As Smartsheet ENGAGE 2022 draws to a close we look back on four inspirational,​ ​action packed days of Smartsheet learning, discovery and product announcements. We’re excited about Smartsheet’s new product features and will be sharing details with you soon.

President and CEO Mark Mader kicked off day one with an inspirational keynote focused on continuing system integration, interoperability and scalability across organisations small and ​large.

Zak Brown CEO of McLaren Racing shared his reflections on the importance of being brave enough to try new things without fear of failure.

​Day two kicked off with an inspirational panel of overachievers from Lumenonics, KPMG US, Climate Pledge Arena and Cisco, ably hosted by CMO Andrew Bennett . Asked what were the things they would like to have known when they started out in their Smartsheet journey, the panel responded:

  1. Schedule your Backups. 
  2. For Control Centre clients; don’t scale chaos! Get the experts in.
  3. Build great dashboards. Dashboards are key to visualising key real time information to the senior team.

We’ve simply loved meeting up face to face with clients, fellow Smartsheet partners, the amazing Smartsheet team as well as Smartsheet enthusiasts from around the world.  Smartsheet, it has been a blast. We are already looking forward to ENGAGE 2023!

Smartsheet once again held its annual Engage conference online, with the virtual format now in its third year.

The focus was very much on customer innovation, and the exciting ways businesses are pushing the boundaries of what the platform can achieve.  

Delegates heard from customers who have been doing precisely that, including Hydroflask, Oxo, and Booz Allen Hamilton.

CEO Mark Mader announced Portfolio WorkApps, which is due to launch later this year and promises to take Smartsheet’s No-Code capabilities to the next level. Customers will be able to build and reproduce WorkApps templates across their business using Smartsheet Control Center.

Also announced was the upcoming launch of DataTable, which enables customers to store data from other solutions and integrate it seamlessly with their own Smartsheet workflows.

Smartsheet users requiring Enterprise level security will benefit from the recently launched Enterprise Plan Manager. Enhance your organisation’s security, governance and compliance with a solution that allows you to centrally manage your security controls.

Finally, Smartsheet continues to expand its integrations with other software, this time including Adobe Creative Cloud, Hubspot and Mulesoft, as well as Cisco’s videoconferencing application, WebEx.

Thanks to everyone who joined us in the middle of the UK’s heatwave last week for our webinar on webforms in Smartsheet. The SBP team were delighted to welcome a mix of brand new delegates and webinar regulars from around the world to demo tips and tricks in webforms and answer questions.

Chief Smartsheet Solutions Officer Debbie Sawyer kicked off with a run down on Smartsheet’s core product function, and a reminder of how smart forms in Smartsheet are one of the biggest benefits and efficiency gains to business users.

CTO James Harris then took us through an enhanced webform solution, developed by our team to take Smartsheet forms to the next level by utilising multiple levels of conditional logic (Where the next question changes depending on the value chosen in the last question.)
