Today – we’re focusing on the Record A Date automation.
Q. How can I tell when a value was entered? 🤔
A. You can right click on a cell and the Cell History will show the date/time stamp for the entry.
Q. Can I use cell history date/time stamp in a calculation? 🤔
A. No…(although you can talk to us about Smarter Cell Timestamp Manager!)
Q. How can I tell when a value was entered and keep that entry for use in calculations? 🤔
A. Use the Record a Date automation.💡
Instructions on how here:
Ensure there is a Date formatted column ready in your sheet to store the required date ➡️ Go to the Automation menu ➡️ Create from Template ➡️ Scroll to the Sheet Changes section and select Record date when specified criteria are met ➡️ click use Template
Name your automation➡️ ¸ Set your trigger e.g. when the Approval Outcome column is set to the value “Approved” ➡️ select the column that will store the recorded date. eg Approval Date ➡️ save
