Airtable Snapshots

Its Tuesday and that means another Top Tip from us! Today we are dedicating the tip to our Airtable Clients and sharing a great way of backing up your Airtable bases to enable data restoration if required.
The easiest type of backup for Airtable bases is the Snapshot feature. This is an automatic process that periodically creates a copy of each base and makes it available to restore from.
Within Airtable snapshots are taken automatically but the frequency relates to how often you use the base. If you are using the base daily then more snapshots will be taken than a base that is only accessed on a monthly basis.
To Restore from an Automatically Created Snapshots
- Find and click the History button in the top right side of the screen (looks like clock arms within a refresh circle)
- Select Snapshots, this will provide a list of available Snapshots (taken automatically)
- Click on one of the available Snapshots and Airtable will restore that version to a brand new base, leaving you to choose to either replace the existing base with this new copy, or just restore certain items from the new base, such as rows, tables, etc
To create your own duplicate of a base
- Click the little down arrow next to the base name
- Navigate to the far right of the pop up menu that appears and click the three dots icon
- Select the Duplicate Base option
The above backup processes are easy to use and freely available within Airtable.
